Primary English (KS1 & KS2)
Good language and literacy skills are vital to helping your child on their education journey and for their future career prospects. Early intervention can be key to helping your child catch up, keep up or get ahead.
Here are some of the key areas we focus on, at Kip, for Primary English tuition:
Early Reading

Grammar

(including vocabulary development & grammar)
Written Expression
Spelling
Phonics
Vocabulary Development
Being a confident and fluent reader is probably the single most important skill any child needs to make real progress at school. Reading ability really does translate into other key skills.

At Kip McGrath Derby South, we have a small team of specialist primary school English tutors who help children improve their abilities, gain confidence, and build self-esteem in the classroom. We create individualised lesson plans, and these are taught either in-centre or online in small groups of up to four children.

We work on grammar, handwriting, punctuation, spelling and comprehension to enable each child to feel prepared and confident with their Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Tests (Year 2 & Year 6 SATs).

Kip McGrath Derby South also provides professional literacy tuition for children aged up to 6 years.
Does your child need help with phonics, letter formation and handwriting?

“When I first came to Kip, I thought it was going to be hard, but after I have been here a few times, I thought it’s fun. You get to do work on the computer and after finishing your tasks you can play games. We have breaks as well so we can chat with someone and eat some snacks. I really enjoy coming to Kip and it helps me with my English and Maths. Right now, my English is much better than the first time I came here. I love being here very much!”
